God’s Healing Rain

Note:  This is a post I did from last year.  I came across it today and needed the reminder.

It’s rained last night.  Actually, it was our first thunderstorm of the year.  That’s a very encouraging thing.  The fresh water to bring life to the brown, lifeless grass.  Everything will start to green up nicely now.  We’ve had an extremely long winter.  I love snow, but, this was a bit much for even me.  It is a reminder to me of how much we need God’s rain to pour over us.  So often we get all gunked up with the nastiness of this world and we need to be washed free of it.  As we walk though the day to day, it’s easy to get marred down and to dwell on the now.  So often we forget that God has already been here for us.  It was no surprise to him.  He is there waiting to wash us off of all the junk.  And for some reason we either don’t think about it or we are unwilling to let him do so.  Two songs come to mind that talk about God’s rain.  One of them talks about His healing power and the other talks about being filled with the Holy Spirit.  Both of which we need.  The Holy spirit speaks to us and give us guidance.  It’s the ever presence of God in us.  But, we need to be healed of all the hurts from the past and of the lies that satan has embedded in us.  I find that those hurts can keep us from letting the Holy Spirit work in our lives.
Psalm 147:3 says, He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 103:2-3 says, Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all you diseases.
God loves us.  Plain and simple.  He wants to wash us off and heal the sicknesses we have, whether they be physical or emotional.  But, we have to take the steps neccesary to get that healing.  A lot of times the pain that we are in, we have caused ourselves by wrong choices we have made.  In those cases we need to take responsibility for that, acknowledge what we did, ask forgiveness (and forgive ourselves!) and move on.  Let God do the work He planned to do in our lives.  So, how do we heal the pain that someone else caused?  You have the choice.  You have the choice to let it effect you.  You have the choice to hold onto it or let it go.  You have the choice to forgive the offender and move on.  And it’s not easy.  I’m not going to lie to you.  Satan will use all those past hurts and hangups to hold you down.  To keep you in the chains that bind you.  Satan will torment your mind and remind you of what you’ve done or what someone else has done.  You have to take a stand and say NO!  It’s not just a matter of doing it once and it’s smooth sailing from then on out.  But, each time to refuse to buy into satan’s lie, the easier it gets.  And the more of God’s rain that will wash over you and wash off that gunk.  We need His rain.  It bring unending peace.  And to have God’s peace is a wonderful thing to have.  So, let the rain come.  Don’t be afraid to get soaked in it.  =)  Be Blessed!
