When we read this passage we often focus on the jars. In reality, Paul was talking about what was IN the jars. It isn’t what is on the outside of us. Our character on the inside is the treasure. The true nature of our heart can be revealed when we are put through the fire. When we focus on only what we appear to be, we lose out on the treasure we are on the inside. The world may tell us that our beauty is in what we look like. Yet, our true beauty comes from within. THAT is where our focus should be. Working on that. For women, Proverbs 31:30 says it all! Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. I want to be that woman! So, the outside of my jar right now might need some work, but if I focus more on the inside of my jar, the outside will catch up! Though I may go through being hard pressed, perplexed, persecuted, and struck down, God has my life in HIS control and as long as I let HIM be in control, my jar will never break! =) Be Blessed!
I was reading in 2 Corinthians today and was covering treasures in jars of clay. Verses 7-9 says, But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
